History of Jasmine:

The word jasmine is derived from the Arabic word “Yasmin” which means fragrant flower. Jasmine often has white or yellow star-shaped flowers that grow on vines or as shrubbery. The leaf shape is simple , trifoliate or pinnate with up to nine leaflets. They are often strongly and sweetly scented. Flowering in summer and spring most species. Few species like jasmine Jasmine grandiflorum flowering in winter on the bare branches of the deciduous species. The 200 species of jasmine, the first plant known by the name was Arabian jasmine, known by the scientific term Jasminum sambac. This be the starting point to trace the history of jasmine flowers. It crosses the red sea into Egypt as early 1000 B.C. then found its way to turkey and Greece.

Distillation of Jasmine Essential oil :

Steam Distillation of jasmine oil is a special type of distillation process for temperature sensitive materials like natural jasmine oil. Through this process the jasmine flowers is placed in a still and steam is forced over the material. The hot steam will help to release the aromatic molecules from the plant material. The molecules of these volatile oils are then escape from the plant material and evaporate into steam. The temperature of the steam therefore needs to be carefully controlled. The Steam containing the essential oil is passed through a cooling system to condense the steam, which then form a liquid from which the water and the essential oil is then separated. The color of jasmine oil is medium viscous consistency and golden yellow to brown in color.
